A really eye-catching report off MSN.com!

It appears as if a breakthrough technique has been discovered to harvest pioneer stem cell lines from embryos without killing them. Instead of removing groups of cells from eight or ten-cell stage embryos (and thereby killing the embryos), a team from Massachusetts has managed to pluck just one cell from the said embryo, which does not affect blastocyst development as far as we know, and successfully culture a cell line from a lone stem cell by co-culturing it in the company of other cells. In other words, a stem cell can never endure loneliness haha..

If this single-cell biopsy technique can be replicated in independent labs the world over, there will be fresh hopes for the creation of many more high quality cell lines that are still rather lacking in the age of research on pluripotency. We await this technique with bated breath! :)
