The ride home proves to be an eternity of staring blankly out the glass pane, chin upon a sagging arm, eyes a stagnant puddle, countenance a world away from its norm. Overweight emotions hurl themselves at one another within their cranial cul de sac, just as sumo exponents clash in folds of fat and skin. Sickening turbulence results. He turns away from the darkness rushing past the vehicle, almost wishing to turn a back on the guilty ache in his soul. But, but. There can be no escaping the overwhelming sense of disgust and upset. There can be no way else, but to wait, and hope for peace of mind to wash away the persistent ills.
No wonder there had been the inexplicable sadness of being. A forewarning, no doubt, of the poor hand that Life was about to deal.
