--------
For the good few hours that he pottered about in the kitchen running errands and helping her with mundane chores while the rest of the party pounded on outside, he thought that the dynamics had shifted in place again.
Perhaps it was the yuletide leprechaun who had brushed a potent mix of luck and goodwill across his head, or maybe the spirits of the season had filled the apartment with exceptional warmth and cheer. Whatever it was, he would not know.
But for those few hours, what he did know, was that he felt loved, loved in a very subtle way that would surely be unnoticed by any outsider, stronger than ever before. And through the quiet fortitude of an almost protective tone of voice, he found himself wondering, in all breathless wonder, if their past lives had ever intertwined.
